Wakefield made its living from the River Calder, which turned the market town into an inland port and a centre for wool. On its medieval bridge stands the Chantry Chapel, built in 1356. By the start of the 19th century it was a wealthy town trading in wool and grain, and in 1888 it became a city.

Calder-side homes, lighter loads

Maybe it's a loft in Alverthorpe, a garage in Horbury or a whole house in Wrenthorpe. Whichever, posting the job is free and licensed, insured local carriers send you quotes. You pay once your waste has been collected, and every job comes with a waste transfer note, kept in your account.

A city that shares

20% of what we earn on every job goes to good causes in your local area. Wakefield Hospice, with its palliative and end-of-life care, and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, 500 acres of nature and art on the city's doorstep, are two examples of the kind of local causes the programme is for.
