Furniture disposal
A wardrobe that won’t come apart, a table nobody wants, a bed frame from the spare room? Post photos and licensed local collectors will quote to take it away.
You choose, and you pay once it’s gone.
Wooden or upholstered?
Wooden and metal furniture, such as wardrobes, tables, beds and cabinets, can be recycled or reused.
Upholstered seating is different. Sofas, armchairs, padded chairs and footstools may contain persistent organic pollutants (POPs), so in England they must be kept apart and incinerated. Beds and mattresses aren’t covered by those rules.
When you post, list them separately: “Furniture (not upholstered)” and “Sofas, armchairs & upholstered seats”. That tells your collector how to handle each, and your transfer note records it. More on sofas.
Reuse first
Furniture in good condition can often go to a charity furniture shop or a local reuse scheme. For upholstered furniture, most ask for the fire safety label to still be attached.
Checked for you
The law makes you responsible for who takes your waste. On scrapmarket, that’s handled. Every collector’s licence, insurance and ID are checked before they can quote, and the licence again every night. They’re paid only once we’ve seen proof your waste reached a licensed site, and you get a waste transfer note on every job. How we check every collector.
