Solihull began as a planned village, laid out by the de Limsey family between 1170 and 1180, and it stayed small until the 20th century, when land was released for housing and the town took off. Its landmark is the 168-foot spire of St Alphege, which you can see from a long way off, and Malvern and Brueton parks add plenty of green.

Garages full of everything but cars

The garage in Dorridge that hasn't seen a car in years, the attic in Knowle, the whole house in Monkspath before a move: posting the job costs nothing, and licensed, insured local carriers send you quotes. You pay once your waste has been collected, and every job comes with a waste transfer note, kept in your account.

Four-wheel-drive goodwill

20% of what we earn on every job goes to good causes in your local area. Birmingham Dogs Home, which takes in stray and unwanted dogs and finds them new homes, Carers Trust Solihull, which supports unpaid carers of all ages, and Solihull U3A, where older members meet every week to learn and talk, are all examples of the local causes the programme is for.
