Eastbourne's first claim to be a seaside resort came in 1780, when four of King George III's children spent a summer holiday here. The landowner William Cavendish, later Duke of Devonshire, then helped turn it into a fashionable resort, and the seafront is still lined with Victorian hotels, with a pier, a theatre and a Napoleonic-era fort along the way.

Chalk cliffs, cluttered cupboards

A house in Meads, right below the Downs, or a flat at Sovereign Harbour that needs emptying before a move: post the job for free, and licensed, insured local carriers send you quotes. You pay once your waste has been collected, and every job comes with a waste transfer note, kept in your account.
