Slough was a small place until the Great Western Railway arrived in 1838. After the First World War, farmland to the west became an army motor repair depot, and in 1920 it was sold to become the Slough Trading Estate, home today to 400 businesses. As the town grew it took in its neighbouring villages, and Heathrow is just 5 miles away.

Room to stargaze again

William Herschel found space in Slough for his great 40-foot telescope. If your garage in Britwell or loft in Salt Hill has no space left at all, post the job for free and licensed, insured local carriers send you quotes. You pay once your waste has been collected, and every job comes with a waste transfer note, kept in your account.

Slough pulls together

20% of what we earn on every job goes to good causes in your local area. Groups like Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East, with its home help, befriending and day centres, Slough Community Transport & Shopmobility, which runs Dial-a-Ride, and the Slough Philharmonic Society, whose chorus and orchestra invite local singers and players to join, are the kind of local causes the programme exists for.
