Watford grew as a market town on the River Colne, then took off when the Grand Junction Canal arrived in 1798 and the London and Birmingham Railway in 1837. Paper mills such as John Dickinson's at Croxley helped printing take root, and brewing was big business too. Cassiobury Park, once the estate of the Earls of Essex, is where the town goes for fresh air.

Off the press, out the door

Clearing a bedroom in Oxhey, a garage in Garston or a whole house in Callowland? Posting it is free, and licensed, insured local carriers send you quotes. You pay once your waste has been collected, and every job comes with a waste transfer note, kept in your account.

Pressing on together

20% of what we earn on every job goes to good causes in your local area. Watford Palace Theatre, the town's home of theatre, dance and comedy since 1908, and Watford FC's Community Sports & Education Trust, which runs football camps, courses and community projects, are two examples of the kind of local causes the programme is for.
