Anchor Lane recycling centre: opening times, booking and what it takes

Anchor Lane, in Lanesfield on the Bilston side of Wolverhampton, is the city’s second tip. The council runs it, as it does Shaw Road, with the same hours and rules.

If you live in the south or east of the city it’s likely the closer of the two. Its donation point takes bikes only.

Opening times

DaysOpen
Monday to Sunday8am to 4pm

Open every day of the year that the council lists, 8am to 4pm, Monday to Sunday, with no seasonal change. Its tips page and its site map give the same times.

Walking in is allowed only from 8am to 10am daily, and 2pm to 4pm on weekdays, escorted by staff. There’s no published last entry time, and nothing on bank holidays or Christmas.

Booking and proof of address

Drive in by car without booking. Anything bigger, from a van or pick-up to a car with a trailer, needs a Tip Visit booked in the council’s My Account, in 30-minute slots. Weekends have fewer of them than weekdays.

Take ID that proves you live in Wolverhampton. The council’s pages differ on exactly what: one photo ID, photo ID with your address, or photo ID plus proof of address. Van and trailer visits need two forms, one with a photo and a recent household bill.

Book on the council’s site

Vans, trailers and the height barrier

Booked vans and trailers only, with the booking made by whoever owns the vehicle. Say when booking if it’s hired, and bring the agreement; for a company vehicle bring a letter from the company. The council’s enforcement team watches how the booking is used, and vehicles banned before stay banned.

There’s a 1.8 metre barrier. Taller vehicles book a day ahead for a 10.30am to 3.30pm slot.

Can’t get a slot, no van, or it won’t take it?

Post the job with a few photos and checked, licensed collectors quote to take it away. You choose, and you pay once it’s gone.

On every job we check the collector’s licence, insurance and ID, record their number plate and where your waste is going before it leaves, issue your waste transfer note, and pay them only once we’ve seen proof it was disposed of legally.
